Rồi mình hòa giải

Thuc Tran

Tự do thờ phượng tự do yêu thương

Trả quyền tự do bầu bán ứng cử

Trả học sinh quyền tự do học tập
Không Mao-Nhiều, Các-Mác với Le-Nin,
Không đảng quang vinh, vô sản, vô tình,
Trả chúng nó quyền tự do đọc sách.

Trả người cầm bút tự do viết lách

Reconciliation? Sure, but…

Give back everything you stole from me with your scheme of
And then maybe we can talk of all these brotherly relations.
Bring me back to those wonderful times
where I enjoyed life because... you were not around!

Give me back that name that you dared to steal from me
Saigon, my hometown, my beloved city
A name so dear to me since my childhood
Not that long name, hard to say and insidious!

Restore to the people their freedom
to worship, to love
Let the Christians go back to their church
And the Budhists to their Temple first.

Restore our freedom to vote and to represent
so the people can choose those with real talent
Restore my right to decide my future and its direction
The right to happiness that I will give back to future generations.

Return schools campus and its direction to the teachers
Return all children of the country back to their pristine innocence
with their smile full of tenderness
and their eyes sparkling with radiance !

Bring back primitive innocence to mountainous regions
And tolerance to the plains and canyons,
Return to the poor fishermen their ponds and oceans,
The fields that you've confiscated from the hands of your peasants!

Revive the separation of the three powers to our political institutions.
Restore to judges their right to do justice in good conscience,
to lawyers their right to plead in favor of their clients,
to the courts, their impartial and independent position.

Give back to students the freedom to choose their class,
No more Maoism, Karl Max and Leninism,
No more heartless Proletariat, Glorious Communism.
Give them back their freedom of reading without censorship.

To writers restore their right to tell whatever haunts them,
To people the right to sing out the torments of their hearts.
May love songs be heard everywhere even on road with no name,
So at all times, all places everyone can join the celebration.

Give back everything you took from me,
your crazy utopia I will return to thee ,
a doctrine which is both vicious and bloody,
The one you imposed on me, the source of all my misfortunes.

Only when all these requests are met... you, con man
Yes, we can then speak of RECONCILIATION!
